Electrical Engineer 3 - Commercial Division

Job Description Summary

The Electrical Engineer 3 will coordinate and lead teammates in the Design Engineering department to produce electrical designs for Hunt Electric’s commercial projects. The Electrical Engineer 3 will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, providing engineering leadership and technical quality assurance in the pursuit and execution of commercial electrical construction projects. We are seeking a candidate with 10 years of experience and PE licensure. This role is based out of our Eagan, MN headquarters with a hybrid work schedule of office/remote work.



Job Description:

Role & Responsibilities

Production of Electrical Drawings and Engineering Reports  

• Lead the design and coordination of electrical drawings within schedule, budget, and defined scope.

• Produce engineering reports including arc flash hazard studies, overcurrent protection device coordination studies, voltage drop calculations, and short circuit analysis reports.

• Work in Revit to develop project drawings, perform calculations, and compile reports.

• Create Bluebeam or Revit designs for project layouts as needed.

Project Pursuit

• Support the creation of proposals and design narratives for new project pursuits.

• Represent the engineering/design department in project interviews with general contractors and owners.

• Define scope, value engineering options, and early design strategies to assist estimators in preparing accurate bids.

Collaboration

• Work closely with project all internal and external project stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.

• Participate in weekly staffing meetings, one-on-one meetings with managers, and department training/education sessions.

• Serve as the engineering point of contact with clients, presenting solutions and addressing challenges proactively and effectively.

• Attend networking events such as conferences, expos, golf outings, and social events to build and maintain client relationships.

Technical Oversight and Quality Assurance

• Review drawings and designs from other engineers and designers to ensure compliance with NEC, local codes, project standards, and Hunt’s internal standards.

• Answer code-related and technical questions from coworkers in other departments and the field.

Site Visits

• Conduct site visits for information gathering before and during design phases.

• Ensure installations align with design intent and code compliance.

• Provide key takeaways of successes and challenges of the project.

Continuing Education

• Attend webinars, in-person seminars, conferences, and review technical articles relevant to current projects.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.

• Professional Engineering (PE) licensure and 10 years of engineering experience. Minimum 5 years related electrical design/modeling experience.

• Advanced 3D/BIM modeling experience using Revit. Experience with Navisworks, Trimble, and Bluebeam.

• A track record of strong communication, collaboration, customer focus, problem solving, leadership, training and mentoring others, and delivering quality work.

• Willingness to learn new ideas, practices, and concepts.

• Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).

Physical Requirements
•This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers and fax machines.
•Employees are frequently required to sit; occasionally required to kneel, reach, stoop, crouch or crawl; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
•This position requires the ability to lift files, open file cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.
•This position may occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
•Employees are regularly required to talk or hear.
•Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Pay Range:

$112,640.00 - $163,840.00


Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
